Senior .Net Developer

(October 2019)

A great job applying your skills to design and create web systems for sharing of data on our marine environment. Systems you will work on include http://www.digitalocean.ie and http://atlas.marine.ie, and you will work in an innovative environment with fellow developers, data analysts, marine scientists and planners.

Required skills are in the .Net Web stack:

  • C#,
  • JavaScript,
  • SQL and SQL Server,
  • ideally exposure to MVC and design patterns,
  • and an interest in JavaScript mapping and dashboard libraries e.g. Leaflet, AmCharts.

You should have a suitable degree or postgraduate qualification in computer science and typically 5 plus years of .Net web development.

This is an opportunity to apply existing skills and extend to new ones, and to play a lead role in some key systems. You won’t get lost in a big team but you will have responsibility to deliver key systems and public facing solutions.

DBA / BI Developer, Galway team

(October 2019)

The Business Intelligence Developer will use SQL Server databases and SQL-based tools to develop SQL Server-based database models and related data feeds, ETL processes, and database queries in support of the new information products being developed by the Statisticians/Data Analysts. The Business Intelligence Developer will ensure that the data required for the information products is accurate, up-to-date and available for use in analysis tools. Data from multiple sources will need to be made available to the Data Analysts, using SQL Server enterprise databases and associated tools, to query using analytical tools e.g. R Studio.

The Business Intelligence Developer will liaise with Data Analysts, Fisheries Scientists and Information Services personnel to coordinate data and database-related inputs to a Fisheries Informatics programme.  You will work within a team structure and will liaise with the Data team and the Information Services and Development team to develop and support the information products. The following list of Key Deliverables are applicable to the Business Intelligence Developer Role:

  • – Develop database models for new information products;
  • – Develop suitable data processing to ensure the accuracy and currency of data;
  • – Liaise with the data analysts to develop SQL queries to return the required data;
  • – Ensure that development policies are enforced including that release procedures and source control procedures;
  • – Liaise with the Information Services team to ensure the database(s) are well maintained and governed and to ensure data and service availability;
  • – Implement improvements to data management and information delivery systems in conjunction with the Information Services team;
  • – Provide ongoing knowledge transfer to colleagues on the work undertaken.

Requirements:

Experience & Qualifications –

  • The Business Intelligence Developer must possess a minimum of a degree or equivalent in a computer science, data analysis or numerical discipline.
  • The Business Intelligence Developer must have at least 3 years’ experience working with enterprise database systems.
  • The equivalent of senior level experience (greater than 7 years) in this role or related roles.

Data Queries –

(i) Experience with developing data queries using the SQL language to query databases and output data for analysts to use. This experience should include, but is not limited to, working with data analysts to convert defined data requirements into database models, processes and queries and working with enterprise databases such as SQL Server.

Data Models and ETL –

(ii) Experience with developing database models and the loading and maintenance of relevant data using ETL processes.

This experience should include, but is not limited to, working with data analysts to convert defined data requirements into database models, processes and queries and working with enterprise databases such as SQL Server.

Technical Processes –

Working with technical processes including a related development lifecycle. This experience must include source control of scripts using tools such as TFS or GitHub and a structured testing and release process.

Commercial Business Development with Business Solutions Analysis – UK Clients

Overview

This role offers an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join a sustainably growing company, one that is part of the innovative Tracsis plc, delivering information & location technologies and analytics solutions to established and new clients. Our work is valued and makes a difference – applied as it is to the environment and natural resources, planning & heritage, and the growing transportation sector.

We expect this role to be central to the building of new and expanded relationships with transport agencies, water companies, consulting engineering companies.

This role reports directly to the senior management team, and the successful candidate should view this as an opportunity to become a key part of the senior management team.

Responsibilities & Opportunity

Commercial/Business development

  • ·      Play a lead role in commercial business development and client liaison.
  • ·      New client identification, opportunities assessment, new contact and relationship formulation.
  • ·      Have an ability to clearly articulate the value of technology services as well as tech products.
  • ·      Drive and innovate – externally and internally a commercial focus – to drive profitability

Proposals & tenders

  • ·      Public tender documents review and assessment.
  • ·      Proposal and tender drafting, including liaison with colleagues for technical, commercial or other inputs.
  • ·      Pricing and cost centre management

Client business analysis & solution design

  • ·      Gain an understanding of client challenges and potential technology & data analytics solutions.
  • ·      Have sufficient technical and analytics knowledge to work out viable potential solutions.
  • ·      Liaise with colleagues to seek their ideas and document these further into proposal-ready solutions.
  • ·      Document and prioritise the agreed business needs and transform these into deliverable requirements for our software & analytics team.
  • ·      Create user stories and process flows from defined requirements.
  • ·      Excellent communication skills, both customer facing and internal to teams, including the ability to listen and find key messages within a conversation.
  • ·      Excellent presentation skills both customer facing and internal to teams.
  • ·      Excellent documentation skills to support both technical and non-technical documentation.

Delivery success

  • ·       Project delivery monitoring to ensure appropriate internal and client success – (budget/profitability)

Expected Requirements

  • At least a number of years of experience working as a Business Development & Requirements Analyst in a IT or analytics related industry,
  • Ideally will have experience in Business Development & Requirements Analysis for IT, Engineering, or Analytics services.
  • Can demonstrate an ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and juggle ever-changing priorities and deadlines
  • A customer-driven focus, with a history of consistently meeting and exceeding performance targets in relation to customer delivery
  • Avid seeker of business growth opportunities, process improvement and cost optimization
  • Proven ability to influence and communicate with client staff across varying roles & responsibilities.
  • Relevant university degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge of Project Management methodologies and Agile documentation requirements.
  • Worked in a team structure delivering complex and multi-faceted programs of work.
  • Travel to customer sites (particularly in the UK) required.

Remuneration:

  • Base salary with health insurance, permanent health insurance, death in service insurance.
  • Skills development plan and CPD allowance.
  • Bonus based on business development success and delivered project success, to be defined.
  • We expect this role to be based in the UK with options for our Manchester, Leeds, or London offices of Tracsis, with regular travel and liaison with the Compass Informatics head office in Dublin (Blackrock).
