The public works department in Margate, Florida, USA is using a rugged mobile solution to track the use of city maintenance equipment, including mosquito-spraying trucks and street sweepers – and it’s as easy as a single-button system and GPS functionality. The department’s setup includes our Nautiz X7 rugged PDAs and customizable Atlas360 software from Logic Concepts, and operation has proved to be very simple, yet extremely effective. The program uses breadcrumb GPS tracking to map where trucks go, and customized drop-down menus and single-touch operation let operators indicate when and where mechanisms are in use. The system saves time and improves accuracy, and Margate officials are exploring how to implement it in more ways, including in other city agencies.
